Check the coil pak. Known to do this. I own a '95 Neon that is doing JUST THIS SAME THING! Today I decided that I would change the ignition coil, but oddly that DID NOT solve the problem. I'm exactly sure what the problem is now....any other ideas??? It is a ECT sensor problem. Im positive ya, check the sensors if changing the coil pack did not work. I find that ignition modules are more apt to have the problem described, coils are usually consistent. I agree. If the coil checks out OK, then the ignition module, attached to the distributor, cuts out at a higher temperature. i have a 1996 neon it is doing the same thing. The neon uses a distributorless system or Direct ignition system. It's consists of a coil pack, cam position sensor and crank position sensor. The coil pack should be located on the top of the valve cove and have the four plug wires coming out of it, hope I've been some help

Check to make sure that the pump is getting power to the Neon fuel pump. Check the pump relay, and the pump fuses.
