Your local motor spares shop should sell a Draper caliper retraction tool. Mine cost around £12 and does the job perfectly.
To replace the rear brakes on a 2002 Ford Focus, start by safely lifting the vehicle and removing the rear wheel. Then, remove the caliper bolts and slide the caliper off the rotor, supporting it with a bungee cord or hanging it to avoid stress on the brake line. Take out the old brake pads, replace them with new ones, and compress the caliper piston if necessary. Reassemble by repositioning the caliper, tightening the bolts, and reinstalling the wheel before lowering the vehicle.

To change the front brakes on a 2001 Ford Focus, you will need a few essential tools: a jack and jack stands to lift and secure the vehicle, a lug wrench to remove the wheel nuts, a socket set (typically 7mm or 10mm) to detach the caliper, and a C-clamp or brake caliper tool to compress the caliper piston. Additionally, having a brake cleaner and new brake pads will complete the job. Always ensure safety by working on a level surface and using proper safety gear.
Not completly off, you will be able to lift the caliper off, but it will still be connected to the brake-fluid hose ;) then you pop off the pads and twist back the brake piston, and There you go :)
To change the front brakes on a 2005 Ford Focus, start by safely lifting the vehicle and removing the front wheels. Next, remove the caliper bolts to detach the caliper from the rotor, and secure it without stressing the brake line. Brake jobs are not a job to be done without a Manual. Your life and the lives of others and the life of your Automobile depend on them. Please purchase a Manual and do the job correctly. Or Hire someone who can.Loosen the lug nuts by turning them counterclockwise 1/2 turn.Raise the Focus up and put it on jack stands. To do this, place the floor jack under the the Focus and jack up on the front jack point. Then, place the jack stands under the front pinch welds and lower the Focus onto the jack stands.Continue to remove the lug nuts and then remove the wheel.Remove the caliper mounting bolts holding the caliper in place.Lift the caliper off the hub assembly and secure it with zip ties to the coil springs above the brake assembly.Remove the brake pads. You may need to tap them out with a rubber mallet.Press the caliper piston back into the caliper. Place the face of a brake pad against the caliper piston and squeeze the piston back into the caliper using the c-clamp.Insert new brake pads and reassemble the brake system.**NOTES**Ensure the disc is clean and free of oils and dirtUse threadlocker on the caliper bolts to prevent them from losening while driving or heavy braking.Bleed the brake fluid lines to remove and air bubbles. Air could cause soft pedals or dead zones during braking.Put the wheel back on, finger tighten lug nuts. Lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to 100 foot-lbs with a torque wrench.
The bolts that hold them on are threaded, the pistons are NOT. If they won't compress, or are stuck, you need new calipers. New calipers are cheaper than having them rebuilt. Try Pep Boys, JC Whitney, AutoZone, etc.
Remove wheels Re-install 2 lug nuts to hold rotor in place Remove flexible brake lines Remove caliper mounting bolts Slide caliper off rotor
It is pretty easy. The front pads have a special clip that has to be clipped on the caliper. The rest is just as easy as changing any car's front pads.
To change the wheel studs on a 2012 Ford Focus, first, safely lift the vehicle and remove the wheel. Next, remove the brake caliper and rotor to access the hub assembly. Use a hammer or a press to push out the damaged stud and then insert the new stud from the back of the hub, securing it in place with a lug nut to pull it through. Finally, reassemble the rotor, brake caliper, and wheel before lowering the vehicle.
