Locate the 2 plugs on the transmission. You should have one one the drivers side towards the top and one directly on the bottom. On my 97 s-10 both metal plugs take a 17mm Hexhead to remove them. When removing them always remove the top one first. You can use a rubber hose and funnel or a MTF Pump to refill it. Screw the bottom one back in and add fluid through the top plug until fluid starts to come out. Screw in top plug and you're done.
You fill it until it runs out the fill hole on the side of the transmission.
There is a plug on the side of the tranny. take it out. If fluid runs out, put the plug back in the hole and get on with life. If no fluid runs out, check your manual for what transmission fluid to use. Fill it till it runs out at the plug a bit. Be sure to use the transmission fluid recommended for Chevy S10 5 speed manual transmissions.

Manual transmissions don't require fluid. Yes!!! manual transmissions also requires fluid. Drain plug is located under the transmission. It requires a 15/16 wrench. The fill plug is located on the side of the tranny towards the front of the vehicle.
On a 2000 Ford Ranger : On a manual transmission , underneath the vehicle , on the transmission will be a fill plug . With the vehicle level the fill plug is cleaned and removed to check the fluid level ( the fluid level should be at the bottom of the fill plug hole )
On the side of the transmission, near the top, under the vehicle you will find a plug. Remove the plug and if you can touch the fluid with your finger it is full.
