It's difficult to answer without looking at the union. Several factors should be looked at. 1) Is the union connection in a straight line? Sometimes pipes move and place pressure on the union causing it to leak. Make sure everything is in a straight line. The union should couple up easily without the retaining nut tightened. If you have to pull it into line, then that's a source of a leak. 2) Are the mated pieces clean from debris? Glue, solder, dirt ... just about anything can interfere with the fitting. My recommendation is to take a piece of steel wool and thoroughly polish the copper on both sides of the fitting. That should ensure a smooth coupling. 3) If all else fails, get a new union. I've seen some unions that were just not true, had screwed up threads, etc. Check it out at the store for defects as once it is in, it's too late to find out the coupling is bad.
Also, after cleaning and inspecting mating surfaces, and putting the union back under pressure, determine just where the leak is occurring. Then, make a determination of whether a few carefully placed wraps of Teflon tape could block off the leaking. This is not the proper way to fix a leak, but it has worked for me to get the machine back in service in a number of circumstances.
You can fix a leaking copper pipe without soldering by using a compression fitting or a push-to-connect fitting. These fittings can be easily installed without the need for soldering equipment.
1st you need to know where the leak is. The only time a copper fitting or brass fitting will fix a leak is in the watersupply connection.
If it's a green corroded pipe then it's old copper. -You can't fix it. Replace all the length of corroded pipe with PEX and a union at each end
If you have a leaking shark bite fitting, you should turn off the water supply immediately to prevent further leakage. Then, assess the fitting to see if it needs to be tightened or replaced. If you are unsure how to fix it, it's best to contact a professional plumber for assistance.
NO!!! It will need to be cut out and replaced to solve the problem
If it is leaking at a fitting, it is either a bad flare or it isn't tight enough. Gas or flare fittings should be put together dry, Do no use pipe dope because this can cause a leak between the mating surfaces. If it is in the line itself, either replace the line or cut it, flare the ends and put a fitting in.
Replace the fitting, they are cheap plastic, once the housing cracks and is leaking you just need to replace the whole thing. If the leak is coming from the threading though you can probably fix it with some teflon tape, just dont tighten down on the fitting too hard or you will have other problems
If you have a sharkbite fitting leaking in your plumbing system, you should turn off the water supply to prevent further leakage, then assess the fitting to see if it needs to be tightened or replaced. If you are unsure how to fix it, it's best to call a professional plumber for assistance.
If it is galv. pipe there could be a small hole on threads. You would have to replace pipe.
If you are having issues with leaking under your sink, it could be as simple as a loose pipe fitting. Try first to tighten all of the screws. If you still experience leaking, you should contact a local plumber.
Use a pipe cutter to cut the connector about two inches away on all sides. Use a shark pipe connector to replace the copper T-connection with aCPVC connection.
There is a heater hose that goes to the left rear top side of the intake manifold and that fitting leaks engine coolant sometimes and it will run down the back of the intake around the distributor. If that fitting is not leaking then the intake manifold gasket is leaking coolant in the corners of it. REplace the intake gasket. That's all that can leak coolant on that year engine. If coolant is leaking out between the transmission and engine block then you have a freeze plug leaking in the back of the engine, between the transmission and block. Must remove the transmission and flywheel to fix it.
