blown fuse or blown fusible link.
Look in your car manual and it will tell you what each symbol means. For example, check gauges light could be low on gas or oil.
There are certain car gauges which are mandatory to have in a dashboard. These gauges are the speedometer, the temperature gauge, the fuel gauge, the tachometer, oil pressure gauge, charging system gauge, and odometer.
Gauges may stop working and warning lights may illuminate due to various issues, such as electrical problems, faulty sensors, or a malfunctioning dashboard cluster. A blown fuse or a wiring issue can disrupt the signal between the vehicle's systems and the dashboard. Additionally, low fluid levels or engine problems can trigger warning lights as a safety precaution. It's essential to have the vehicle checked by a mechanic to diagnose and resolve the underlying issue.
The issue with your dashboard gauges not working could be due to a faulty fuse, a disconnected or damaged wiring connection, a defective instrument cluster, or a malfunctioning sensor. It is best to have a professional mechanic diagnose and troubleshoot the problem to determine the exact cause and solution.

Check for a blown fuse.
We have a 99 with the same problem. I've spoken with three others with the same problem. Gauges go out, come back on then go out for days at a time. When they do come back on, the fuel and odometer stay off. Great not knowing how much gas you have these days.
It's that part in front of the driver with the lights and gauges, radio, glove compartment, etc.
