If your Corsica is leaking Radiator coolant when you turn on your heater it is probably a rotted heater core, but may just be the lines. If your Corsica is overheating even when you put rad fluid in it, then it may be a more serious problem, such as a dead rad fan, or mal-functioning thermostat. You can ask at any local shop, or even Canadian Tire as to what size hoses and clamps you may need, and any other replacement costs or other information you may need. If you are not sure if it is the heater core behind the passenger side of the dashboard, then you may want to have an experienced friend or well trusted mechanic check that for you.
May have a bad heater coil or a lose coolant hose clamp near fire wall.
I'm sure you are talking about the passenger side. The heater core must be leaking. That is the only thing that will allow antifreeze into the cab. Check and make sure that the heater hose's that clamp to the heater core out under the hood is tight. If they are then replace the heater core.
drain coolant. disconnect heater hoises on the passenger side of the engine side of the firewall. remove the heater core pipe clamp bolt and clamp. from inside car, remove glove box by opening itand squeezing the sides in.remove dash insulating panel. there is an upper and a lower screw holding the core in place that you must remove.remove the evaporator sensor wiring clip from heater core cover. remove heater core cover. remove heater core clamp bolt and clamp then slide out the heater core. installation is the reverse.
Hi to change the heater core you can start by ensuring the antifreeze in the engine is cold if you have hose clamps. clamp the heater hoses so they do not leak if you do not have clamps just drain the radiator. next put a catch pan under the passenger side of the car near the fire wall to catch any antifreeze that does leak out. than go inside the car on the passenger side open the glove box empty its comtents and remove the glove box door and liner. after this is done you can remove all the bolts around the heater box(I think there are 14 of them) when the heater box comes out the heater core is in it . to reassemble just reverse the process.
drain coolant. disconnect the inlet and outlet hoses of the heater core on the engine side of the firewall. (passenger side). remove heater core pipe clamp-bolt and clamp. from inside, remove the glove box(open it, squeeze sides in then pull ouit, remove hinge screws) for access to the upper core cover screw.below the glove boz, remove the dash insullating panel to access lower screw.remove evaporator temp sensor wiring clip from heater core cover if equipped with A/C. remove heater core cover, clamp bolt and clamp then slide out heater core. install is reverse.
The radiator can be drained by removing the lower hose clamp and catching the coolant in a large pan. There isn't much of an easier way to do it.Be careful to open the metal clamp carefully, as you will have to reuse the clamp (or you can remove that expandable metal clamp and replace it with a 'screw' clamp that would make this process easier in the future.
bad hose like a pin hole or bad clamp
Follow the heater hoses to the firewall. There should be 2. disconect them from the heater core, then insert a 5/8 hose bib and clamp them together.
Just unhook the hoses from the heater core and put a tube are something in the middle of them and clamp them together.
The lower radiator hose could have a crack, the hose at the heater core could have a crack, or a clamp could be loose somewhere. Locate the spot under the truck where the leak hits the ground and trace it up into the engine bay. Good Luck!
To remove the factory plastic hose clamp on the rear heater line of your 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan with a 3.8L engine, use a pair of pliers to gently squeeze the clamp together and slide it off the hose. If the clamp is particularly stubborn, you may need to use a flathead screwdriver to pry it off carefully. Be cautious not to damage the hose or surrounding components. Once removed, you can replace it with a more durable clamp if necessary.
loosen the clamp holding the hose on to a fitting and pull the hose free.
