To accurately track the distance you have traveled on your bicycle using an odometer, you need to first calibrate the odometer by entering the correct wheel size. Then, make sure the odometer is securely attached to your bike and start cycling. The odometer will measure the rotations of your bike's wheel and calculate the distance you have traveled based on the wheel size. Make sure to regularly check and calibrate the odometer to ensure accurate tracking of your distance.
There is not an odometer cable. The odometer is driven by the speedometer. If the odometer is not working then you will have to replace the speedometer head.

It would depend on the year, make and model vehicle.
Make sure the odometer is set to odometer and not tripmeter. Stick the key in the ignition. Hold down the odometer reset button, turn the key to the on position(don't start the truck) and hold it until the lines are gone.. You will automatically see a few lines in the odometer that will start to go away. Once all the lines are gone, the counter has been reset. Auto manufacturers go to a lot of trouble to make sure people don't try to fraudulently roll back odometer miles to make a car look less "worn out" than it really is. There is no easy way to roll back an odometer other than to just replace it.
You cannot reset the odometer in your car, however you can reset your trip odometer.
Make sure odometer (ODO) is slelected (not trip odometer). Hold in odometer "reset" botton. Turn Igniotion to ON but do not start engine. Light will flash and go off. Turn Ignition OFF. Release "reset" button.
You can only restart the trip odometer. There usually is a button on the instrument cluster that brings up the trip odometer or the regular odometer. Once you have the trip odometer showing just hold down that button for a few seconds and it will reset the trip odometer back to zero.
Because your odometer, or something connecting the odometer to the battery, is broken. Most likely the odometer is the problem if the rest of your dashboard is working fine.
