There is no way to prevent the fuel that is sitting in the lines from spewing out when you disconnect the lines. You can try to catch most of it in a very clean container though, then put it back into your tank, though you don't lose that much when doing this procedure. I realize gas is expensive, but sometimes things just aren't worth the fuss. If there is the slightest bit of dirt in that container it can help your new filter get clogged and even mess up your injectors if it gets through the filter

Should you change the oil filter when you change the oil in a 2002 Malibu?

YES! Never change the oil without changing the filter. Not changing the filter will save you what, 5 bucks. Replacing the engine that you will blow in the process will cost, maybe $800 to $1200. Do the math then go out and CHANGE THE FILTER. Put an air filter in it while you are at it.

Changing oil filter instead of complete oil change?

Not recommended. Used to be common to change oil and not the filter. Supposedly the filter would be good for 6,000 miles while the oil was to be changed at 3,000 miles. Changing only the oil filter doesn't replace the additives in the oil that get broken down over the 3,000 miles.

While changing oil and filter in 2005 expedition you broke the filter now cannot remove it Can you tell you how to remove this filter?

I had this happen on my 2002 model. You need to use a long screwdriver and hammer to knock the screwdriver all the way through the filter. Use the screwdriver to turn the filter.

Where is the fuel filter located on a 1993 chevey lumina?

On the outside of the tank underneath the car. Easy to change but messy with gas, so get something for the gas to leak into, or hold the line with your finger (if you can) while changing out the filter i guess. Where is the fuel filter located on a 1989 43 liter s-10 4x4 and how the change it?

Under the truck, inside the left frame beam, behind the driver. It should just be a couple wrenches to remove the filter. It's quite easy, just be careful to not drip fuel on your cloths and don't smoke while you're changing the filter or while you have gasoline on any part of you.
