Undo the hoses remove drive belts from pulleys undo pulley bolt and remove pulley no special tool needed should slide off remove bolts at front of pump remove pump
I read somewhere that you have to flush it. i.e. drain it and replace the power steering fluid. Preferably with the wheels off the ground, just spin the steering lock to lock a couple of times (with the engine running) and that will do it. Top up fluid if necessary and 'bobs yer uncle'!
how do you remove the automatic transmission from the 2004 wrx.... i have everything disconnected except for the gearing fork shifter.

The oil sending unit on a 2002 wrx subaru is almost under the alternator. I suggest you remove the alternator and it is easier to remove the oil sending unit.
