Remove the negative terminal first and connect it back last.
Positive & negative terminals located under a red rubber cover on the left side of the engine compartment can be used to jump start your battery. For your additional information the battery is under the passenger seat, simply remove the battery's vent cover.
Open up the trunk Remove the wood/carpet cover in the back. Unbolt the strap for the battery and remove it. Unbolt the bolts on the +/- sides of the battery. Remove the battery.

First, Let me say that an original Harley service manual is your friend. I have a 2007 Dyna Superglide Custom. Facing the bike from the right (battery) side, remove the one screw on the bottom part of the battery box cover. Remove the negative cable screw. Remove the positive cable screw. Take care not to lose the star washers for each cable connect. Undo the rubber strap holding in the battery. Pull the battery out. Reverse the process to install the new battery.
I disconnected the positive terminal of battery to remove buildup on connections to under hood fuseblock. cleaned connectedall terminals and van will not turnover. everything is lit up on dash but check engine and battery lite stay on. 2007 chevy express cargo van. thanks, Denny
