There are a couple of ways to go about removing wax from your car.

1. Wash the vehicle with a suitable wash such as P21s Total Auto Wash

2. Clay the vehicle with detailers clay*

*This has been known not to completely remove tough waxes such as Collinite.

3. Use an AIO (all in one) cleaner

Use an automotive safe wax & grease remover. Will remove the wax and not harm the clear or paint.

Will acetone ruin car paint?

If it is a recent model car, with clear coat (1990s and newer), Acetone is safe for removing tar/asphalt splashes. Acetone can affect the finish if allowed to soak for a long period of time, however, it evaporates very quickly so this is not usually an issue. Fingernail Polish remover is very often Acetone with scent, as well as many "tar removal" products from an auto parts store. If you wax your car, you'll need to re-apply the wax after washing. If your car does not have clear coat, the finish tends to turn white/chalky after sitting in sunlight, if the car is washed and waxed, acetone will remove the wax, so re-applying wax is more important than vehicles with a base/clear coat finish.

What is the difference of a car polish and a car wax?

The main difference between car polish and car wax is that car polish actually cleans the car's surface, but car wax is more of a sealant or top coat to use on an already cleaned vehicle. Ideally, one may wish to use car polish and then car wax in that order for a clean, shiny, and protected finish.

What causes swirl marks on clear coat paint?

Wax,poly sealants, glazes, polishes, and compounds. These products are made to cover up problems, not correct them. When these products breakdown by going thru a car wash,or not properly hand washing with a mild soap swirls occur in the clear coat. Also, wiping the vehicle dry with a towel will create them.

Is it important to polish a car?

Waxing your car provides an additional layer of protection against the elements over and above that of traditional clear coating normally applied to the painted surfaces of the car. If youve ever washed a new car and noticed the water beading on the surface instead of creating a sheet of water, the surface has some type of wax already applied. Deciding whether or not your car needs a coat of wax can be determined by two things: check to see if the water no longer beads on the surface, or if your paint is faded or dull even after a good washing. In cases like this a good coat of wax and some polishing may be all you need to recover that showroom shine.
