- cuss a little bang, your knuckles. If you can get the Lambda Probe out while doing this you're on the right track. It's the spart plug looking thingy screwed into the cat, hooked up with a cable that disappears into the car.
- with the Lambda probe out, now tackle the flanges holding the cat to both ends of exhaust pipes.
- Give up on the bolts, crawl out from under the car, fetch a hacksaw or angle grinder and cut the bolts off. Don't forget appropriate protection equipment.(goggles, ear protectors)
- with the bolts cut, wrestle the old cat out.
- install new cat. Cuss as you discover that bolts weren't included.
- get neughbour to drive you to the hardware store to buy new bolts
- finish bolting new cat in, don't forget to hook up Lambda probe.
- crawl out, lower the car, take it for a test drive.
