First remove the wheel on the side of which you want to do first(do one side at a time). Then remove the two caliper guide pins on the back side of the caliper. Pull the caliper off and remove the pads from the carrier (don't lett the caliper hang by the brake hose). Install the new break pads after applying antisquel to the back of each pad. Push the caliper piston into the caliper housing with a c-clamp and one of the old pads to prevent damage to the piston. Apply some lubricant to the caliper guide pins and slide the caliper on. Put the wheel back on tighten the lugs in a star pattern then your good to go!

how do i replace front wheel bearings on golf 1.6 2002 model
To replace Melex golf cart brakes, you will need parts that vary depending on the model. In all cases, you will need the new brake shoes and possibly the calipers. You can replace these parts using standard tools including a Philips screwdriver.
There are 2 ABS sensors. On the front brakes only.

Just changed the alternator on my 2000 vw golf and now can't get the alternator belt back on - any suggestions?
Yes they do. I have a 1997 Golf Joker in Atlanta and the brakes are the same as the US Specs Golf.
Are you trying to kill someone?
Take the old one out and put a new one in.
brake pads could be worn out. would it be safe to drive for now if the front brake pads are ok?
chances are its either worn brakes or possibly a wheel speed sensor...good luck!!
buy a vw, chiltons, or haines manual or take it to a garage.
