The fuel filter is located just inside the driver's side frame rail just back of the front door. The '06 has it mounted between the fuel tank and the bottom of the car. There are two plastic rivets holding a plastic bracket (which covers the filter) in place which are removed from the top of the bracket. The rivets are difficult to remove and have a specific orientation.
The fuel tank covers most of the filter so it must be lowered to access the two quick connect fittings on the back of the filter. My dealer quoted $70 to change the filter.

It's secured to the frame under the tank on the left side. You'll need to remove the tank to get to it (not a hard job). The filter is secured with a rubber contraption to prevent vibration rattling it around under the tank. Gentle use of the pliers on the fuel's male ends will get the fuel lines off.
