if you are trying to replace the head unit at the front of the car you simply need two stereo removal pins that you can buy from halfords or shops as such or you can make your own out of a wire coat hanger, they look like this http://www.deals-on-ice.co.UK/shop/imagesset%20of%2010.jpg, push them into the holes at each side of the stereo and pull, then you should be able to fit an after sales stereo, remember a Ford Escort is not a standard size hole, normal stereos are 1DIN and the fordescort is a 1.5DIN you will need to also buy a blanking plate.
