You have to remove the black belt cover between the engine & shoot held on with 2 bolts. Next you will need to separate the auger housing from the unit. This is done by removing the 2 bolts just below the black belt cover now you have access to both the drive & auger belt. Upon resembling make sure when the 2 units go back together that you have the notices on both sides on the bottom of the unit together.

To adjust the auger belt on a Sears model C950 snowblower, first, ensure the machine is off and disconnected from power. Locate the auger belt cover, usually found on the front of the snowblower, and remove it to access the belt. Adjust the tension by loosening the mounting bolts on the engine or idler pulley, repositioning the belt for proper tension, and then retightening the bolts. Finally, replace the cover and ensure everything is securely fastened before testing the snowblower.
Got a toro 521 wont blow snow after 2 feet whats up
There are Two, sometimes THREE Belts on an MTD Snow Blower. They are NOT Easy To Change unless your experienced.. Belts cost around 12.00 EACH, and can takes a few hours to change.. Sometimes it is NOT the Belt, but an Adjustment in the Cable or a spring) This is for the drive belt, not the auger belt Check drive belt every 50 hours of operation for wear and tear. Drain the gasoline from the snow thrower, or place a piece of plastic under the gas cap. Remove the plastic belt cover on the front of the engine by removing the two self-tapping screws. * Tip the snow thrower up and forward, so that it rests on the housing. • Remove six self-tapping screws from frame cover underneath the snow thrower. • Pull the idler pulley away from the drive belt and remove the belt from the engine pulley. You will find the idler pulley in front of the engine and under the belt cover that you removed earlier. See Figure 31. • Working from the underside of the frame, slip belt between the friction wheel and the friction wheel disc. See Figure 34. You may have to twist the belt flat in order to slide it through the clearance between the friction wheel and the friction wheel disc. Remove the belt. • Install new belt. Reassemble following the instructions in reverse order. This is a pretty straight forward effort, for any most non-comitose DIY'er. Answer I've owned an MTD Blower, for about 12 years. the toughest belt change is the double auger drive belts. Springs need to be removed. the right wheel must be removed, when facing the open bottom, and the friction wheel assembly must be removed to allow access to the large auger drive pulleys. One must remember to not place the bottom belt onto the engine pulley until the top belt has been installed. It's pretty obvious, when you look at it and/or make the mistake one time.
possible broken auger belt, or one that has slipped off the pulley
you have to separate the front auger housing fron the back engine and drive housing. there should be several bolts on both sides you have to remove. once the two housings are separated you have to loosen off belt guard pins and pull the belt off. dissemble slowly so you can see how to reassemble
Take all the belts off it first. The auger and drive are powered by the motor. The belt that powers the drive wheels will be closes to the motor and the belt that drives the auger will be closes to the auger. The space to attach the new belts will be on the motor side of the bottom pulley closes to the motor. Put the auger belt on the bottom pulley that's closes to the auger first but don't attach it to the top pulley. Next, put the drive belt on the bottom pulley closes to the motor- this belt can be attached to the top pulley closes to the motor. Now, the auger belt can be attached to the top pulley closes to the auger. Both belts have idler pulleys that keep them tight. These pulleys run on the outside of the belt. I use a bar when removing and replacing the belts inside of my fingers to guide the belts off the top pulleys. I make sure that the idle pulleys are the first and last that the belt gets attached to or removed from. These idle pulleys don't have to be removed for the replacement of the belts. I pull the starter rope slowly to help install the new belts. Remove the spark plug first. Accidental start ups can happen. The pulley/belt system can cause severe damage to your fingers- so don't use your fingers when guiding the belt on and off the top pulleys. Replace the belt guard if your snow blower still has one.
If the snow is very wet this will surely clog the auger, if the belt is loose that drives the auger this will surely clog as well. This will happen especially to a single stage snow blower as they strain a lot more then a two stage thrower in wet snow conditions. It helps to spray Pam in to the housing before use, a nice coat, like a cake pan!
Devil to the Belt has 608 pages.
the answer is two the larger belt is the drive belt and the smaller of the two is the auger belt.
