All of the factory installed sending units I've seen were screwed in at the top of the block, rear rail, behind the intake manifold. If that is the style in question, there is probably a special socket made for the purpose, but a pair of channel lock pliers or vise-grips can be used to unscrew the sender and install the new one. Since the threads provide the ground connection, Teflon tape or other sealant could prevent getting a good ground.
it is located on the bottom end of the head
connected to thermostat housing
A tan/white wire goes from the sending unit to the fuel gauge typically on a (example) 1985 Chevrolet Silverado 305 tbi.
most likely a sending unit problem
it screws into the side of one of the heads.
That would be the oil sending unit.
On the drivers side of the block, right above the oil filter.
Just read somewhere else that it's at the back of the motor under the distributor.
It's usually screwed into the intake manifold towards the front, near the thermostat housing.
To tell you what the temperature sending unit part number is I would need more information. It all depends on what type of vehicle it is in, and where that models actualy hooks up at.
The oil pressure sending unit is located under the hood, way in back of the engine, under the distributor on the drivers side. Removal requires removal of the distributor.
