The G20 makes this tough.

  • Remove grill and radiator. Many books say not necessary but trust me, its better. Tie the AC core out of the way if it is air conditioned.
  • Remove fan if not all ready done as part of rad removal
  • Remove water pump and move or remove any blocking brackets. Depending on the year this can be a big job all on its own. I recommend you replace the water pump while you have it off, they are cheap and a real pain to change.
  • Use your rented borrowed harmonic balancer puller to remove the balancer. Do not use a jaw puller on the outside or you will ruin it.
  • you now have the timing cover in front of you, remove all bolts, check for bolts coming up from the oil pan.
  • pull the top of the cover towards you, it kind of needs to pop out of the oil pan and off the engine block. Be careful its easy to do damage to the cover and pan.
  • there is the chain in front of you. align the timing marks remove the gears and install new to correct torque spec.
  • Trim the cover corners where it holds the rubber gasket. Goober it up with silicone and slip it in place.
  • Reinstall all and fill with coolant.

Does a 1994 Mazda B3000 have a drive chain?

Yes, it has the old V engine style, camshaft is at engine block, not like the 4.0L wish has a cam over the head and timing chain at the front and the back of the engine. The 3.0L is the easiest to replace 1 small chain at front of the engine, also change the sprokets, those waer also a timing could not be perfect. Timming chain with sprkets and oil seal for the crank and chain cover gasket

What mileage should the timing belt be changed in a 1993 S10 Blazer and what is the procedure?

susposably yuou chane the timing belt every 80 000 miles on most all cars and trucks There is no timing belt on a 93 s10 blazer (you have the V6 4.3L I am assuming). It has a timing chain and gears same as the small block Chevrolet. Usaually only replace them if the chain is stretched or gears worn. This should only happen if you have to constantly check and reset the timing, or the vehicle would not run as the chain would be jumping the sprocket (or gears). Unless you have this problem it should not be of concern. The chain and sprockets should last 200,000 pretty easily.
