Changing the rotation on a diesel engine is a tough process, but it is considerably easier on a 2-stroke engine like this Detroit because it doesn't require any timing changes. However, it will require doing a little shopping around for a few parts which are needed to get the engine going in the opposite direction. The most expensive part will be changing the blower for one which will work in the opposite direction. Other things which will have to be changed are the starter motor, the fuel pump (unless it's electric), the water pump and the oil pump. The oil pump will be a bit tricky- you have to make sure you get one with the right size input gear.
