If it stops after a minute or two, it was condensation. If it continues the whole time the engine is running, it's smoke.
Any smoke ( blue ) coming out the exhaust ?
White "smoke" in the exhaust usually means there is moisture in the exhaust stream. If the "smoke" appears while you're driving away shortly after the car is first started on a cold morning it is likely the condensation boiling off the inside of the exhaust pipes (steam). This is normal and goes away as the exhaust warms up. The condensation is also normal; it usually happens after the car is shut off on a cold day and the water vapor in the exhaust gases is allowed to condense as the exhaust system cools down.If you have white smoke all the time, you may be leaking coolant into the cylinders which could mean a head gasket leak. Usually there is oil residue in the exhaust as well, which would be a tell tale sign of a blown head gasket. Then the white smoke would have a hazy blueish tinge to it. Also, certain chemical engine cleaners and fuel additives can create a white smoke. Have a mechanic check it out if necessary.
is there blue smoke coming out of your exhaust? if there is then there is probably oil leaking into the cylinders.
have a mechanic check your turbo.most will tell u that a turbo blows black smoke but can aslso blow white smoke when turbo is malfunctioning
The best way of knowing is simply look at it. Start the engine, look at the exhaust and see what color is coming out. White can be simply condensation or unfortunately water from a cooling system. Blue means it's burning oil from some internal leak. Black would be too much fuel for the air mixture.
Start your engine and look at the exhaust. If there is a lot of white smoke coming out, you have water in your gas. You can also place an empty cup in the stream of the exhaust. If water droplets appear in the glass, you have water in your gas.
Black smoke coming from the exhaust is a symptom of a bad turbo on a Caterpillar C 15. Another symptom is a loss of horsepower.
You can tell this before an oil change. If you see blue smoke coming out the exhaust your engine is burning oil. If you're oil level is low and you have no oil leak your burning oil.
Sorry to tell you but white smoke from the exhaust is caused by coolant entering the combustion chamber. You have a blown head gasket. STOP driving this vehicle or you will destroy the engine.
Black smoke is a sign of a vehicle running rich. I would check for a bad fuel pressure regulator, bad fuel injector or very plugged air filter. A fuel pressure test could tell you much.
Thick white smoke from the exhaust is a pretty good sign
The white smoke out of the exhaust will indicate a head or a head gasket issue. the only way to tell is to pull the head and inspect for signs of a bad gasket and have the head cleaned and checked for cracks or warping.
