To remove paint you must use thinner.
it would be easier to use new brake fluid that doesnt trash paint. older brake fluid that trashes paint was made from vegetablr oils, newer fluids are synthetic and have not been detrimental to paint in years, unless you have really crappy paint to start with
silicone brake fluid, I think it is dot 6 or something like that, you have to remove all of the old fluid first, can't mix at all.. but that will have less brake fade and higher bubbling temps. they use it in race cars.
Brake fluid is in resevior on master cylinder. Look in engine compartment on firewall just in front of steering wheel. The brake booster is a large round drum and the master cylinder is attached to it. Use a flat screwdriver to slide the two clips off the flat lid. remove lid to add fluid as needed, but remember brake fluid will remove paint, so be careful.
Remove the wheel and use a 15mm socket to remove the brake caliper bolts. Set the caliper aside and replace the pads. You will need a C-Clamp to push the caliper piston back in to accommodate the new pads. You will need to remove some of the brake fluid from the master cylinder before you push the caliper piston in because the fluid level will rise. If you do not remove any fluid it will over flow and make a mess. BRAKE FLUID EATS PAINT. Reassemble and pump the brakes. Add fluid if needed.
unbolt caliper, compress piston in caliper with c clamp and remove /install new shoes... may need to remove some brake fluid from resovior because of new pad thickness--use towel and don't spill on paint!....
Not for motor vehicles, use the correct oil. If brake fluid can burn paint off bodywork I don't think it would be good using it as a lube.
The way to check the level of your brake fluid is to remove the cap on the brake fluid reservoir and read the dipstick. There may also just be a line on the reservoir that says 'Full.' If your brake fluid does not reach that level, add type DOT 3 brake fluid.
For great results, you should always use a paint specific to the application. There are several brands that manufacture paint specifically for brake calipers, that are resistant to the high heat and the affects of brake fluid. They are available at most automotive parts stores, in a variety of colors and application methods.
use brake fluid
DOT 3 brake fluid
Remove the Master Cylinder Reservoir cap and fill with fresh brake fluid from an unopened can to the full mark. Be sure and look on the cap and use the correct fluid. Normally DOT3.
