LDRs work when the light intensity increases, the resistance decreases. If this happens, I think the amount of current is too little so triggers something which turns the street lamps on. I'm not quite sure if this is what happens.

What are the disadvantages of automatic street light using LDR?

The disadvantages of automatic street lights using LDR, light dependent resistor, is the noticeable on/off time difference between sunny and cloudy or rainy days. If the timer is set for a specific time, This concept uses the transistor to operate the on/off switch. If the timer is set for a specific time, the brightness of the light will vary with the amount of light that has fallen.

Explain the working of LDR and mention any five applications of LDR in detail?

A photoresistor, light dependent resistor (LDR) or cadmium sulfide (CdS) cell is a resistor whose resistancedecreases with increasing incident light intensity. It can also be referred to as a photoconductor.Applications:camera light meters, street lights, clock radios, alarms, and outdoor clocks

How do solar streetlights work?

solar street lights work by a solar panel.

What is the function of a light dependent resistor?

The resistance of LDR increases when light is not available (or is limited). And the resistance drops when Light is abundant. This principle can be used in proximity detectors where one or more light source(s) is/are active. When a person / object comes in proximity of the source, the light gets reflected from the object-surface & can now be received by LDR. So due to proximity of the object, resistance of LDR changes - this can be used to trigger different actions like open the door, trigger a motor. Fire an alarm. etc.Resistance of LDR varies according to intensity of incident light over it,It is used in street light to detect day/night and turn on/off the street light automatically

How and when can a LDR be used?

LDR could mean a long-distance relationship? It would be better to spell out abbreviations in full, as there could be several interpretations. More information is needed.

What is an LDR symbol?

An LDR is a Light dependent resistor.

What household objects have LDR circuits in them?

Typically anything that can turn on/off with ambient light detection (night lights, solar landscaping lights, laptops with lighting sensor to adjust the brightness and keyboard backlights, mobile phones, etc..)

In New York city what are the orange lights on top of the street lights?

Who created street lights?

Street lights date back thousands of years. As early as the 4th century Antioch had street lights. Street lights were also used in the 9-10 centuries by the Arab Empire. In 1417 in London Henry Bastien ordered lanterns to be hung on winter nights and by 1792 William Murdoch had installed gas lights in London. In the United States Ben Franklin helped with street lights and by 1816 Baltimore was the first city to have street lights.
