A Toyota odometer measures the distance a vehicle has traveled using a series of sensors and gears. When the vehicle moves, a speed sensor detects the rotation of the wheels, which is then translated into distance traveled. This data is processed and displayed on the odometer in either analog or digital format. In modern vehicles, the odometer may also be integrated into the car's onboard computer system, allowing for additional functionality and features.
the speedometer on my 97 toyota camary stopped working and the check engine light came on why
If the speedometer doesn't work either, then the cable broke or came loose. Otherwise, the gears in the odometer broke.
If the speedometer works but the odometer does not, the odometer has failed.
why would a speedometer and odometer not work on a suzuki motorcycle?
The "trip odometer" on the dashboard doubles as a dimmer. So, the solution to no lights inside the Toyota Sienna is to turn the trip odometer up to turn the lights back on.
The odometer is broken and needs replaced.
Turn the stem for the odometer reset
My speedometer works and the odometer does not because there is a plastic gear in the odometer that is broken.
To reset the digital odometer of a Toyota HiAce, first, ensure the vehicle is in the "On" position without starting the engine. Then, press and hold the trip/reset button on the dashboard until the odometer resets to zero. If your model has a different method, consult the owner's manual for specific instructions. Always check that you are following legal regulations regarding odometer readings.
It is easy... Just press and hold the odometer button on the dash and then turn the key to the on position and watch the dashes in the odometer display slowly disappear. Then release the button and you are good to go! The above answer didn't work on my 2010 Toyota Sienna and neither did the instructions on page 442 of the owner's manual that came with my 2010 Toyota Sienna. This is what did work: Start car and bring up odometer display on left of wheel (not Trip A or Trip B). Turn car off. Hold down odometer button. Turn key to on position without starting car. Wait for maintenance light to blink and go out. Release odometer button and turn key to off position. Dealer changed oil and always forgets to reset the "maintenance required" light.
If the speedo stops also, it is the speed sensor. If just the odometer, take it to a speedo shop.
