There could be several symptoms such as lack of power, engine idles but won't rev up, check engine code(s) about lean conditions or random misfire and with a totally clogged fuel filter the engine won't run at all.
Possibly. Replace the fuel filter to see if that solves your problems.
Pretty much the entire fuel system. It gets clogged, the engine gets starved of fuel, and it either doesn't run or else it runs very poorly.
It could be a clogged fuel filter, a bad fuel pump, or a loose wire. If the engine starts up after a few minutes and runs for a short while, the fuel pump and wiring are good and the filter is most likely clogged, If the engine will not restart at all, start by looking for a loose or disconnected wire before taking on the task of working on the fuel pump.
A Ford Explorer that runs rough may be experiencing a clogged fuel filter, dirty air filter, or worn spark plugs. A proper tune-up can solve most problems associated with an engine running rough.
A possible problem is a clogged fuel filter. Sometimes, the dirt will suck up against the outlet in the filter, but when the engine is shut off the dirt settles to the bottom of the filter.
More than likely, the fuel filter is clogged or dirty.
Can be the fuel pump is about to fail. Can also be the fuel filter is partially clogged.
Apparently the engine does not get sufficient fuel unless you keep pushing the primer button. First of all, check the fuel filter to see if it may be dirty/clogged. If the fuel filter is ok, open the carburetor needle valve 1/8 turn to increase the fuel flow.
Then it is probably being starved of fuel, check that the fuel filter isn't clogged, if that is OK that there could be a blockage in the carburetta.
Fuel filter could be clogged, try fuel injection cleaner if it runs better then it is a clogged fuel filter. Keep in mind you might have to pump the gas pedal to keep it running.
Never seen a clogged fuel line unless it was kinked or crushed. Do a visual inspection for damage then replace the fuel filter and do a fuel pressure test. Fuel lines can get clogged if foreign objects (rags etc.) have been dropped into the fuel tank. Disconnect both ends and blow through. It is not sufficient to diconnect the engine side and see if the fuel runs out. Most modern cars with fuel injection have a tank pump, which would stop the natural flow under gravity.
It takes 3 things for an engine to run. Fuel/Air/Spark. Which one of these are you missing? You say it runs but won't stay started. Do you mean it starts, runs, and then stalls. If so, I would suspect a fuel delivery problem. Clogged fuel filter, or defective fuel pump or fuel pump relay would be suspect.
