the air guage machine has a spindle type guage as we have go guages for plu go and no go guage, that spindle is being inserted into the hole required to measure its ID and ovality.
that spindle has passage to pass air through it alaonge its axis and at the end that passage divides into two opening alonge its diameter
when air is passed thorugh the spindle( gauge) it passes though the spindle and get out throgh these two openings
now if the spindle ( guage ) is inserted into the hole, it quases a drop in the pressure which is sensed by the pressure gauge mounted on the air guage machine, and that is converted into the dial guage in microns and v get redings in microns :)
There are several systems of converting the back pressure in to a display measure, like diaphragms, transducers etc which have their own errors, calibration etc and all these together make the measurement system and we see complicated result.
why doesn't my rpm gauge and temp gauge, fuel gauge not work
It is common for there to be three temperature sensors, one for air, one for the EFI computer and one for the gauge, so yes the sensor can fail and the gauge will still work because it is a different sensor.
An air gauge measures pressure relative to the atmospheric pressure, while a water gauge measures pressure relative to its own density. Water is denser than air, so the air gauge reading will be 3 times higher than the water gauge due to the difference in reference points for each gauge.
A tire gauge works by using a pressure sensor to measure the air pressure inside a tire. When the gauge is pressed onto the tire valve, it detects the pressure and displays the reading on a dial or digital screen. This allows the user to know if the tire has the correct amount of air pressure for safe driving.
Reverse airflow feels a chamber inside the gauge and reads the pressure equal to the inside of the tyre its that simple. Same for air compressure, when the pressure is applied it seals the valve on the gauge end then back pressure fills the chamber inside the gauge when you release the gauge from the tyre valve the pressure has gone!!

to cheak air pressure
To install a compressed air pressure gauge, first shut off the air supply and relieve pressure from the system. Then, select a suitable location to install the gauge, ideally close to the air compressor. Use a Teflon tape or sealant on the gauge threads and securely tighten it using a wrench. Finally, turn the air supply back on and check if the gauge is showing the correct pressure reading.
The best air pump with gauge for inflating tires is the EPAuto 12V DC Portable Air Compressor Pump.
An alternator does not need a gauge to work. It is used to monitor the output of the alternator.
If it gets to hot the thermostat wont work. you need to repace it and the gauge will work again.
