Id bet its low on oil and protecting it self from starting dry. Check your oil fill up and then try to start it.
First off you should not start the engine if the oil is low in the first place. Secondly, why not just top the oil off so you know it is not low and then see if it will start. If it still will not start then you know low of oil was not the cause.
an oil light is designed to come on when there is NO oil pressure or LITTLE oil pressure. that said, when your oil light is on before you start your engine there is NO oil pressure to turn it off until you start the engine.
Always start and warm up any engine before changing oil. You will have a better chance at removing sludge in the oil.
