Whether you remove the truck box for access or drop the fuel tank for access, the time and effort seems pretty even for either method. Removing the box eliminates the need to raise the vehicle and drain the fuel tank, but pretty much requires the help of a second person. Also, expect to have to replace all of the bed bolts with new ones to reinstall it, you'll likely (have to) break many of the old ones.
