Changing the alternator on a 2005 Renault 2.2 dCi typically takes about 2 to 4 hours, depending on your mechanical experience and the tools available. The process involves disconnecting the battery, removing any components obstructing access to the alternator, and then replacing it. It's essential to follow a service manual for specific instructions and torque specifications to ensure a proper installation.
At the left hand front of the engine, behind the alternator. Only 50/60mm long. A right pig to get at.
The instructions to remove the cylinder head on a Renault Trafic van are easily found online by searching for it. The process is so long that I do not have enough room to explain it here.
1.1 hours
It takes 2-3 minutes for a traffic light to change from green to red! (P.S I have counted the seconds myself!)
Follow the manufactures recommendations as outlined in your owners manual.
seven hours of labour at £39 per hour is what I was charged at my local garage to change the clutch in our Renault Scenic. Comments anyone?
Done one today... around three-quarters of an hour.
Two hours if you have never done it before. 30 minutes if you are quick.
It should take around about an hour, varies on if you have anything ready.
how long will it take to replace the clutch in my 2002 renault clio
I changed the alternator on my 02 trafic van today, its pretty straight forward job but took a bit of time to actually get at the part needing replacing, i did it on the drive, no jack, you will need a few tools and a couple of torques head sockets to get at the bumper screws, you need to strip of the plastic under tray, and the plastic cover on the right hand side just in front of the drive shaft, this gives you access to the belt tensioner, grill needs to come off, both head lights out and then the front bumper comes off, there's a small plastic shield in front of the alternator that clips out, then its a case of a 17mm socket on to the belt tensioner and dropping the belt off, two bolts hold the alternator on and came out easy , the bottom one will not come all the way out as it fouls the chassis leg, however, the alternator will come out as long as the bolt is as far out as you can get it, theres a slot in the mounting bracket to allow the alternator to pull free, rebuild is the opposite of the stip .. Changing the alternator took me 15m.. Getting acces to it took me a bout a hour
