They cost allot more .When you see the companies advertising you don't have to change your plugs for a 100,000 miles they use platinum. If you would like a hotter spark i would personally use Auto-light plugs they are good you will probably help your fuel mileage but they may need changed every 2 or 3 years depending on your driving habits the types of fuel you use and so on. I don't know what the "best" are but I am running Bosch Platinum 2 plugs and I like them. The box says "If you don't feel the difference, Bosch will pay for the plugs". I'm running Platinum 4 plugs, they fire better than the Platinum Twos but a little more pricey. I think they're 7 something a plug.

Plug leads should last 3 or 4 times as long as plugs. They do not always abide by the rules, however. If you are running wonky and new plugs doesn't fix it, try new leads, it often works. If it does, put the old plugs back in with the new leads. I bet you will have a spare set of fresh plugs for another day.
