I have owned a 91 celica, 00 and 01 celicas.The 91 ST is by far the gas saver of the bunch. It is a 1.6 liter compared to the 1.8 if im not mistaking on the GT version. In my times with all three of them I have to say the 91 has gave me the best fuel mileage and durability hands down. My 91 has 276,xxx miles on it and going very strong. I drive mine with respect so dont plan on getting this kind of mileage out of one that gets raped when it gets any attention. I hope my answer can help you. By the way I get 34 mile to the gallon on interstate below 75mph in the 91 the 00 models had better pick up at less miles to gallon. I got on average 30 maybe less in the 00 gt version.
