Is a fuel pump for a 3.4L v6 camaro the same as a fuel pump for a 5.7L camaro?

No, they're not the same fuel pump. The V8 requires more fuel pressure than the V6. Besides you would not want to install a used fuel pump. Way too much trouble to trust to a used part.

What might be wrong with a 1990 Jeep Cherokee if the fuel pump has been changed 5 times and keeps going out?

where did you buy the fuel pump? because autozone has 2 different fuel pump for the same year 90. I own a jeep 90 and the first time i replaced with the cheaper that cost $60 or so but it was the wrong one, it last 4 month. the second time i changed for the one that cost $100. and still working. they have different code. Perhaps the person who changed the fuel pump used the cheaper one. go to autozone and ask the clerk to show you both fuel pump and you'll notice the difference. remember that the one you are going to pull from your car might not be the correct one, so change to the other pump. Check the voltage of the power lines for the fuel pump. Should also pressurize the gas lines to make sure there are no clogs. When replacing the fuel pump, completely clear out the gas tank and make sure there is no dirt particles or rust in the bottom of the tank that might be clogging the pump. A clogged fuel filter will cause the fuel pump to work extra hard and not last as long. Always put a new filter on with the new pump. CK for a bad ground circuit less than .8 ohms, as high resistance on a ground will burn a pump up just as faster than low available voltage
