7 Gallons of oil is used to make one standard car tire
It takes around 7-8 barrels of oil to produce one standard car tire. Oil is a key component in the production of synthetic rubber, which is a major material used in tire manufacturing.
Seven barrels

You can but it is not necessary.
I've heard a bunch of different answers to this. Naturally it depends on the size of the tire but for a typical semi truck size drive tire i have been told by a firestone rep that it takes almost a full barrel (55 gallons) of oil to make the tire. I'm a little skeptical about that. Isuppose if you only made one tire you might need a whole barrel to start the process but like any factory, they make them in large volumes.
