First I'd go to the library & look up the fluid capacities for that vehicle in the motor manuals that many of them have. On the other hand if you're on a mountain with no library I'd start filling it with fluid (apropriate to your make of vehicle), one quart at a time, until it showed on the dipstick at which point I'd start the vehicle, keeping it in park (let it warm up), now finnish filling slowly until it reaches the full mark. You're done! Don't forget to set your emergency brake before you do this! I'm not a wiz kid---just the voice of exasperating experience.
As with nearly all automatic transmission the fluid goes in through the dipstick tube.
