If you use conventional oil then change the oil/filter every 5,000 miles. If you use Synthetic then change it every 7,000 miles. However if you do lots of stop and start driving of trips less than 5 miles then change at 4,000 Conventional and 6,000 Synthetic.
The car should come with a manual which lists the type of oil to be used an how often it should be changed. The Honda CR V, manufactured in 2006, requires 5w20 motor oil.

The V6 has a timing belt that must be changed every 110,000 miles, and the 4 cylinder has a chain that should last the life of the engine.

Keeping your oil changed will extend the life of your vehicle. The factory suggest changing the oil at least every 7500 miles.
