My mother has an 89 Cutlass Ciera 6 Cylinder and I use a set of ramps I can drive up on when I change the oil as makes it much easier. The oil pan drain nut is towards the back of the oil pan and the filter is located underneath more towards the passenger side or right front wheel. It is easy to get to the filter by pulling away the plastic/rubber fenderwell behind the right front wheel and accessing the filter there. If it has been awhile or more than 3,0000 miles since the last oil change you might want to buy a Oil Filter Wrench or Pliers that are designed for filter use as it may not come off very easy without one. Remember get your front end lubed sometime (ball joints & tie rod ends) as this is the best time to do as well as changing your air filter.
