The rear wheel sensors are available from most auto parts stores and are a bolt on design.
The front wheel sensors are generally a pressed on donut style sensor that reads motion in the hub.
Some sources like the dealer say that the hub must be replaced with the sensor integrated into it.
On J55 Heavy Duty Brakes it is possible to unbolt the sensor and replace it, but many if not most parts stores do not sell the sensor or even the hub and sensor together, in my research.
Another wrinkle is that some sources say that the rear disc brakes have hubs that have the wheel sensor integrated. So this is kind of confusing, depending on what types of brakes you have from the factory.
The last 8 digits of the VIN if supplied to a GM dealer, can tell you what kind of brakes and suspension you have on the Deville.
Happy fixing.

speed sensor
The speed sensor for a 1990 Cadillac Deville is located on the side of the transmission. Look for a 2 wire plug with 18 gauge wire.
To replace the vehicle speed sensor on a 1997 Cadillac DeVille, first, disconnect the negative battery cable for safety. Locate the speed sensor, which is typically found on the transmission housing. Remove the electrical connector and the retaining bolt, then pull the old sensor out. Install the new sensor by reversing the removal steps, ensuring it is securely in place, and reconnect the battery.
How do you replace the speed senor on a 2001 cadillac catera
You wont like it, but it is located in transmission. Transmission has to be lowered or removed to access.
the four wheel bearing/hubs are speed sensors for the abs system.
It's a bolt on sensor for the front. According to K&D Auto Electric in Somerset, PA, the sensor simply bolts on and a wire pigtail connects to the harness. -Duane
112mph by a fuel cut off
If a 1996 Cadillac Sedan DeVille is making a backfire noise from the engine compartment while at a steady speed, it is probably due to a bad oxygen sensor. The vehicle could also have one cylinder that is not firing or a problem with missing exhaust or the catalytic converter.
Speed is computer controlled and there is no governor that you can remove.
The 1995 Cadillac DeVille transmission typically has three primary sensors: the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), the Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor, and the Transmission Range Sensor (also known as the Neutral Safety Switch). These sensors work together to provide critical data for the transmission control system, ensuring optimal shifting and performance. Additional sensors may be present depending on specific features or modifications.
