A squeaky belt is usually caused by a bad belt, a missaligned pulley, or something leaking on the belt.

To stop a squeaky belt, first inspect it for wear, cracks, or misalignment, as these issues can cause noise. If the belt appears in good condition, you can apply a belt dressing spray designed to reduce squeaking. Alternatively, tightening the belt may help if it's loose. If the squeaking persists, consider replacing the belt, as it may be nearing the end of its lifespan.
when serpentine belt breaks alternator and water pump stop working along with power steering pump
Replace belt and check all pulleys for wear or rough spot
Replace the tensioner. Stop it from getting wet by making some sort of shield to prevent water from getting to the belt.
Wear your seat belt.
Check your fan/accessory/serpentine belt.
when serpentine belt comes off, you will loose power steering, the alternator will stop charging the battery and the water pump will stop circulating coolant so you will have a flat battery in an overheated engine and very little steering capability
Tighten your tensioner pully. there should be a little bolt on one of your pullys.
You need a new belt tensioner. A bent belt tensioner will eventually break and cause the serpentine belt to come off. You will experience a loss of power steering, your A/C compressor will stop working and your battery will die as well seeing as your alternator will not be driven. All those items are powered by your serpentine belt.
It can be the cam belt or the serpentine belt. The cam belt must be replaced every 90,000 miles. Warning: This is an interference engine. If the belt breaks you will have serious engine damage. Replace the cam belt if it is due for replacement. Inspect the serpentine belt and replace if you see any cracks or fraying. If the serpentine belt looks fine or you replace it and the noise is still there, replace the cam belt no matter when it was last replaced. It can be the idler pulley for the cam belt needs replacing and is not holding the correct tension on the belt. This can cause the belt to break even if it is new.
