i am not sure you mean brake lights or tail lights. If brake lights don't work. You have to check out a brake light switch,(it conects to your brake pedal) make sure both wires are conected to the switch. And if tail lights don't work, you have to replace a head light switch.(where you turn your head light on and off)
Check the fuses? Check the light switch?
Bad headlight switch
Those tail lights could be the brake lights you are seeing and that would be a faulty brake light switch or the brake light switch is out of adjustment.
check light bulbs, check stop light fuse, check stop light switch
A short in the tail light circuit. Brake and turn are on another circuit. Dash light power is fed from the tail light fuse to the dimmer switch and on to the dash lights. Look for a short in the tail light wiring circuit. Also check the license plate light for a short as it is on the tail light circuit also. Had a car with blown fuse, traced the circuit for tail lights and found nothing. Jumped the fuse and burned out the wiring to the tail lights. Come to find out, the short was in the license plate light. Also a bad headlight switch can cause this. Both tail light circuit and headlight circuit go through the switch. Contacts for the tail lights may be bad (defective switch common).
fuse relay wiring switch
you have a short in light switch replace light switch
Take a hammer to the tail lights then they will shut off but you might have to get them replaced or somting The tail lights you see may actually be the brake lights stuck on because of a faulty or out of adjustment brake light switch.
have you check the tail light fuse to see if it is blown. other possiblly is the headlight switch.
There is no electricity going to the lights of an automobile if the light switch inside the car is off. The main switch cuts off all current to the lights, both front and rear. There will be current to the tail lights if the brake is applied.
you have a wiring problem with either the dash lights, the headlight switch, the tail lights or the front clearance lights. If you've had an accident that has caused damage to any of those areas, check that first.
