Most likely a wheel bearing. rais up both front tires and try to rock them left and right, and up and down. They should not move at all. Find the one that wobbles a little and replace the hub assembly.
is the humming coming from the front end of the vehicle? i have a 1996 explorer with the same issue. yes the noise come from the front but not all the time seems to make the humming noise when it gets hot

if its not the tires doing this, then it could be a bad wheel bearing. If you veer to the left and right, and the noise comes and goes, its definitely the wheel bearing, replace the affected unit as a hub assembly. Often worn bearings sound like a propeller type air plane..
Could be many things but a front wheel bearing/hub assembly going bad comes to mind. Scalloped worn tires can give you a humming noise also.
