You could try testing the hub. lift car and shake tire. if it shakes you need a new hub. My 1998 Taurus has a tortion/sway bar in the back. There is a rod that holds the end of the tortion bar in place. I had a thumping noise and found out that the end of that rod had broken off. The rod was about $10.00 at the local auto part store. It was very easy to replace. Jack up car, remove rear wheel and then the rod has rubber bushings and a nut at each end to hold it on.

And fourth put it back on just one or two splines towards the passenger side of the vehicle. Hopefully this will resolve your issues with the thumping noise. But if it doesn't, try moving it (or the passenger side wiper) in the other direction.
