what happened to my Nissan exalta '01 was, the idle got affected, the rpm goes up and down upto almost even dying and car body shaking as if it couldn't breath, i thought it was a servo/MAF or idle control valve issue, car struggled when coming to a stop or slowing down or during traffic as if it will stall but when at last i found a nice technician after i scout around without any charged checked the alignment of distributor and he found misaligned, he corrected it, made small adjustment on the idle control and it fixed the issue, he said it's like a puzzle, he did not even charge me at all and now the car runs like new :-)
Put the wire back.
A car can backfire and die if the spark plugs are bad. The car could also have a problem with the timing or the catalytic converter .
spark plugs and or a good tune up have the timing checked on vehicle ould also check distributer points and distributor cap
Misaligned or bent pulley. Defective idler pulley. Incorrect belt being installed. The belt must be an exact match, or it will self destruct.
without a timing light or vacuum gauge the easy way is to loosen the hold down clamp on the distributor, start the car, slowly turn the distributor counterclockwise until the engine sounds like it is about to die, then turn the distributor back until the idle returns to a smooth even idle. As a good measure you can manually give it gas at the carb to check for backfire, if no backfire shut the car off, if the car does not chug or diesel when shut off timing should be real close. I use to set mine to idle at about 900 to 950 rpm when I lived at 5000 ft. try using a vacuum gauge and set the timing at 15 to 18
it doesn't or it shouldent'
Slowing down
might have misaligned or loose wheels
catalytic converter?
9 out of 10 times on that car it is bad wires. They get weak from the amount of heat put off by the exhaust manifild right there. Also plugs and distributor cap and rotor.
No! A car backfires because unburned fuel is getting to the muffler. The heat of the exhause system causes the fuel to combust, thus a backfire. A bad alternator will just not charge your car battery.
you also have to make sure distributor is intalled correctly to match the timing
