1997 grand marquis has same problem Tonight I found the head and tail light and interior light on. Light switch was in automatic on/ off. Key was off. Turned off Light switch from auto to off and lights went off. twice in the past week have had dead bat in morning. Hope that it is fixed.
check and make sure it is charging the battery, should be between 13 and 14 vlots when car is running. if less you have a wire not getting power from the alternator to the battery.
If you have power windows, try checking the wiring and motor for that. When a power window motor is bad or the wiring has a short in it, it can run continuously even with the car off causing the battery to be drained. If that checks out fine, check other automatic devices in your vehicle. There are a number of them that could be malfunctioning and be absorbing too much power from the battery. a little.
Somewhere in the car is a load that is killing the battery. If you have had any electical work done recently you should be returning to have it looked at. It could be a bad motor somewhere (antenna motor, window motor, blower motor). You can disconnect the negative terminal from the battery until you get it fixed. It won't hurt anything.
voltage regulator
Alternator, every post i have ever read all points to the alternator
If alternator and battery test fine- then you may have a bad fusable link not allowing the alternator to charge the battery
Dead battery, Alternator not charging, Ignition off draw draining battery,.............
Hi That is telling you that the alternator is not charging the battery, and unless you get it seen to very soon (and I mean tomorrow) you will be sitting somewhere with a dead flat battery calling AAA for a ride home. Could be a bad alternator or it could be that the battery is clapped out. A battery needs to be replaced every 3-4 years coz they take such a beating, especially if you live anywhere there's a winter. They don't have an unlimited life span and they are a lot cheaper than an alternator. Auto Zone or Pep Boys will test your battery for free Phil
Alternator is not charging, or if it is the charge is not getting to the battery
check to see if the alternator is working properly or maybe an alternator wire came loose with the new battery installation.
Battery light usually means alternator not charging. Most common solutions would be be a bad alternator, bad connection, or loose alternator belt.
The battery is only a storage device. The alternator replaces the electrical energy that the battery uses every time you start the engine and every time you turn on an electrical device in the car. If the alternator isn't working or isn't working properly, the battery will eventually discharge. Answer if the alternator is in fact working but you have let the battery run empty, simply getting a jump start might not allow the battery to charge sufficiently once you start driving again. you have to charge the battery up a sufficient amount or the battery will just run out again.
Typically when you need to jump start your car every time in order to start it, there is a problem with the battery. It could be that the alternator is not working and is not charging the battery, or it could be that the battery is not holding a charge.
Your battery is not charging. It is either due to a faulty battery or a faulty alternator. Get it changed.
Every time you disconnect a battery cable you have to reprogram the radio stations ( if that's what you are asking )
