I would expect that the battery is dead; however, instead of jump starting the car, it is far easier on your car's charging system to place a battery charger on it for about 6 hours then start the car. Otherwise, the alternator tries to charge the dead battery at a wide open rate and it can damage your alternator. Mark
According to the owners Manual, this is an indication of an alternator failure.
To replace the alternator on a 2000 Jaguar XK8, first disconnect the battery to ensure safety. Remove the drive belt by loosening the tensioner, then detach the electrical connections from the alternator. Unscrew the mounting bolts and carefully remove the old alternator from its bracket. Install the new alternator by reversing the steps: secure it with bolts, reconnect the electrical connections, and reattach the drive belt before reconnecting the battery.
at least 13.7 on the minimum side with a good charged battery in it.
To replace the alternator belt on a 1994 Jaguar XJS, first, disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety. Loosen the alternator mounting bolts and the adjusting bolt to relieve tension on the old belt. Remove the old belt and install the new one, ensuring it is properly aligned on the pulleys. Finally, adjust the tension by repositioning the alternator, tighten the bolts, and reconnect the battery terminal.

On a 1989 Jaguar XJS, the voltage regulator is typically integrated into the alternator. To access it, you would need to remove the alternator from the engine bay, as it's not a separate component. Make sure to disconnect the battery before attempting any work to avoid electrical hazards.
The alternator in a 2000 Jaguar is a tight fit. You will have to remove the motor mount, oil filter, and filter adapter, then jack the engine up slightly to have clearance to remove the alternator.
Not 100% sure for Jaguar, but most vehicles use a symbol that looks like your car battery, or the abbreviation "ALT" with red or amber backlighting.
