Most people would say "Mobil 1" because it is the most highly advertised synthetic oil and it's a good product. But, Pennzoil Platinum synthetic is just as good or better. And it's slightly less expensive. I use it in my wife's SLK280.
Look in your manual for the oil weight most vehicles will run fine with 10W-40. If you are looking for a high quality oil go with Mobil 1 Fully Synthetic or Castrol Fully Synthetic.
From what I have been able to research most manufacturers recommend using 10W-40. You should change oil every 500 to 800 miles. And it is better to use a synthetic oil versus a mineral oil, eg; Mobil 1 synthetic, as synthetic oil does not create the sludge that is prominent with standard petroleum based mineral oil.
