They are welded in to the exhaust stream so as to prevent easy removal, its a government thing for the protection of our air quality.
The 1998 Isuzu Trooper typically has one catalytic converter. However, some models may have a second catalytic converter as part of a dual exhaust system. It's essential to check the specific configuration of the vehicle, as variations may exist based on the engine type or emissions standards.
yes new ones 2011-2014 has a DPF Diesel Particulate Filter and a Catalytical converter
On a 1999 Isuzu Amigo, the four oxygen sensors are located in the following positions: one upstream (pre-catalytic converter) on each bank of the engine, typically positioned in the exhaust manifold or just after it; and one downstream (post-catalytic converter) on each bank, located after the catalytic converter in the exhaust system. The exact locations may vary slightly depending on the engine configuration.
A flashing check engine light means that you have a problem with your engine that may cause harm to the catalytic converter.
dont do it. on my 2001 it sounds obnoxious and it will not run right due to isuzu's over-engineering on these vehicles.
Could be as simple as a dirty, plugged up fuel filter or as bad as a damaged catalytic converter. If there is a check engine light illuminated, start with having the codes scanned.
Look under the Trooper and count them.
I'm not a mechanic, but I'm pretty sure you have one O2 sensor just before the catalytic converter and one after. The first checks the function of, and regulates, your fuel control unit, and the second checks the efficiency of your catalytic converter. My #1 O2 sensor is screwed into the exhaust pipe about a foot or two before the converter and kind of looks like a spark plug. On a 2003 Isuzu the O2 sensor is on the driver side of the engine compartment about a foot down from where the exhaust pipe comes out of the header. Just follow the exhaust pipe out of the engine and you will see it. It looks like a spark plug sticking out. It's pretty easy to disconnect the wires, unscrew it and replace it. You will need a 7/8" open end wrench to unscrew it. Good luck. * 1999 Oldsmobile Aurora's actually have 4 O2 sensors, 1 on each header and 1 before, and 1 after the catalytic converter...
Don't know about cat conv, but my EGR Valve just failed, I'm told a common problem on 3.5L 'Honda' engines; my light will be on until I can afford to replace the valve.
The fuel filter is located near the right rear wheel bolted to the chasis.
Starter is on passenger side of motor underneath intake bolted to trans bellhousing.
It has four (4). Two located before the catalytic converter and two after it. Edit: This depends if you have an OBD-I model or OBD_II model. Since all cars after mid '96 are OBD-II then if you have a V4, yes it has four (4). But if you have a V6 engine it only has three (3): a preconverter sensor in each exhaust manifold and a post-converter sensor.
