The trip odometer and mile odometer in a 1992 Town Car may stop working due to a faulty speedometer cable, which can break or become disconnected. Additionally, issues with the vehicle's instrument cluster, such as a malfunctioning circuit board or damaged gears, can lead to failure. Another potential cause could be a problem with the vehicle’s speed sensor, which provides data to the odometer. Lastly, electrical issues, such as blown fuses or poor connections, can also affect the odometers.
You can not disable the odometer by pulling a fuse.

If both the speedometer and odometer are not working I would suspect the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) is at fault. If the speedometer doesn't work and the odometer does, I would suspect the instrument cluster is at fault.
