yeh you're a tool!
Done automatically by belt tensioner
It is located right under the alternator.
It has a serpentine belt and has a self adjusting tensioner.
Begin by loosening the tensioner pulley on your 1999 Oldsmobile Cutlass. Put your serpentine belt around the pulleys. Tighten the serpentine belt with the tensioner pulley.
Serpentine belt has stretched and needs replacing or the tensioner is defective or both.
Remove belt and tensioner complete should be able to be unbolted from engine (Left-hand thread)
Honda Man'sThere is no manual way to tighten the belt. The serpentine belt tensioner is spring loaded and requires no adjustment. If the belt is too loose replacing the belt tensioner will be required. it should tighten automaticly, you may need to replace the tensioner
Disconnect the battery.Remover the serpentine belt.Unbolt the belt tensioner from the bracket.
you cant, it has an automatic belt tensioner.. you would have to replace the belt if it has stretched
If that's the extent of the complaint, check the serpentine belt and tensioner.
alternator on a 2000 Pontiac runs off a serpentine belt if its loose then chances are ur serpentine belt is worn or stretched or your tensioner pulley is bad or the tensioner itself..alternator bolts stable does not move like the old setup.
On a 1999 Oldsmobile Cutlass, the serpentine belt tensioner is typically located near the front of the engine, on the driver's side. It is a pulley that is spring-loaded and can be rotated to relieve tension on the serpentine belt for removal or installation. To adjust the tensioner, you generally use a wrench or socket on the tensioner’s arm to pivot it away from the belt. Always refer to the vehicle's service manual for specific details and diagrams.
