Front driver side.
The number 1 cylinder on the Chevy 305 is the front cylinder on the drivers side. The drivers side is odd numbers, the passenger side is even.
your number one cylinder is on the front driverside of the engine it is also cast into the stock intake of most all V8's
when my 305 is running it has about 60 psi in all the cyliner
Driver's side, front.
In the cylinder heads.
The bore and stroke is---3.740 bore and 3.480 stroke. STOCK 305
If it's just one cylinder it usually indicates worn or stick rings, cracked piston or a serious valve stem seal problem.
Subtract 305 from 350 and that will give you the difference (or interval) between the two numbers:- the answer is 45. However, if you mean what is the difference between a Chevy 305 and a Chevy 350, then it is the difference between the engine bore (the cylinder) sizes. The 305 bore is 3.740 inches. And the 350 bore is 4.000 inches, giving the Chevy 350 20HP more then the Chevy 305.
On a distributor for a 305 Chevy engine, number 1 is typically located at the front of the engine, aligned with the driver's side cylinder head. When setting the timing or installing the distributor, you should position the rotor to point toward the number 1 spark plug wire on the cap. This corresponds to the first cylinder on the driver's side, which is the front-left cylinder when facing the engine.
The schematic for an 83 Chevy 305 engine can be found in the service manual. It gives the location of each component and how everything is connected.
