Make sure to perform the proper safety precautions before attempting.1) Locate the tool bag in the spare tire/tool storage compartment (left side panel in rear of veh. behind 3rd row seat).2) If you have a veh. that is equipped w/side-spoiler, remove the fasteners on both sides of the spoiler cap by turning them counterclockwise. Pull the spoiler cap out. (right side, caps under spoiler).3) Locate the spare tire carrier socket cap on the right, in front of 2nd row seat. Unscrew it by turning counterclockwise. Remove the spare tire lever and lug wrench from tool bag.4) Raise the reclining lever and push the front seatback forward and out of way (make sure seatback locked).5) Insert spare tire lever into spare tire carrier socket. Fit lug wrench to opposite end of spare tire lever. Slowly turn lug wrench counterclockwise until spare tire reaches ground and cable becomes loose (do not loosen cable too much).6) Rotate the small lever in top of retaining plate of spare tire and pull retaining plate out from center hole of tire.
2. Turn the wheel wrench counterclockwise to lower the spare tire. Keep turning the wheel wrench until the spare tire can be pulled out from under the vehicle. If the spare tire does not lower to the ground, the secondary latch is engaged causing the tire not to lower. See "Secondary Latch System" later in this section. When the tire has been completely lowered, tilt the retainer at the end of the cable and pull it through the wheel opening. Pull the tire out from under the vehicle. Notice: If you drive away before the spare tire or secondary latch system cable has been reinstalled, you could damage your vehicle. Always reinstall this cable before driving your vehicle. 3. Put the spare tire near the flat tire. 4. Position the chisel end of your wheel wrench in the notch of the center cap and pry off the center cap. See "Removing the Flat Tire and Installing the Spare Tire" later in this section to continue changing the flat tire. 5-77.

From the tool kit (located in the panel above the rear nearside wheel arch) use the wheel brace to lower the spare wheel and release a fair amount of slack on the cable as you will need to move it. 3. Lift the plastic cover/sleeve from the end of the cable revealing the nipple, rotate the cable through 90 degrees and slide the nipple and wire out of the wheel securing plate . 4. Remove the wheel securing plate and tether by undoing the thumbscrew.

Slide the spare tire to the rear and remove the retainer from the wheel. 3. To stow the cable/retainer with spare removed, turn jack handle wrench clockwise until slack is removed. dont be afraid to crank on it real hard sometimes they stick.
i HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH A BLOW-OUT.I HAD TO TAKE A LONG EXTENSION WITH A SOCKET AND GO BETWEEN THE HOLES IN MY SPARE RIM AND REMOVE THE ENTIRE WINCH ASSEMBLY TO GET THE TIRE OUT FROM UNDER THE TRUCK.IT TURNS OUT THE INSIDE OF THE WINCH ASSEMBLY GOT RUSTY AND WAS KEEPING IT FROM RELEASING THE TIRE FROM THE WINCH.IT IS A PAIN TO GET OFF,I ENDED UP BEATING THE WINCH ASSEMBLY FROM THE BACK SIDE OF MY SPARE RIM WITH A 2 LB SLEDGE TO GET IT TO RELEASE,AND HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE WINCH.GOOD LUCK.HOPE THIS HELPS.ON A GOOD NOTE,THERE IS ONLY 1 BOLT HOLDING THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLE TO THE TRUCK BEHIND THE SPARE TIRE,AND IS FAIRLY EASY TO REMOVE WITH A SOCKET AND LONG EXTENSION.
