My 1988 Chevy Silverado the brake light stays on dash will not turn off and it stays on almost all the time but sometimes it turns off for a few minutes how do you fix it?

Could be a coulpe of differant things.

First look up at top of ebrake pedal will be a switch with one wire to it this is suppose to let you know ebrake is on. unplug it see if makes a difference if doesnt plug back in, if does check for adjustments.

Second under the hood below the brake master cyl is the equalizer this also has a single wire to it unplug it if .

If its the problem will need to be replaced.
